Santa María de la Trinidad Church

The project of the Santa María de la Trinidad Church began at the initiative of Father Nicolás Schwizer, then rector of the Tupãrenda Sanctuary, who with pastoral vision and determination began the great mission of building the Church, together with the Pastoral Council of Tupãrenda, in the year 1997.

Some time later, Fr. Antonio Cosp, succeeding Fr. Nicolás as Rector of the Shrine, assumed the great task of motivating, accompanying, and guiding the spiritual conquest and material construction of this church.

The work officially began in 1999, with the construction and blessing of the Portico of the Church, through which the beautiful atrium is accessed and which is supported by four strong and noble columns. At that time it was baptized as the Portico of Hope, explaining that “the Portico that we are going to cross will be that of the future Church that will be dedicated to the Holy Trinity. We want to build this Church together, as a contribution to the New Paraguay that we dream of”.

The Church of Santa María de la Trinidad belongs to each member of the Schoenstatt Movement and to each pilgrim. Together we build this church and help Mary carry out her maternal mission as educator and evangelizer from the Shrine.

Each one of us can contribute with prayer and contributions to the capital of grace: every good deed I do I can offer for the construction of this living church. In addition, we can contribute materially to the collection of each Mass; in the piggy banks found at the entrance to Tupãrenda and in the church atrium.

From the José Kentenich Foundation we work in the administration of the economic resources that are destined especially for the construction and maintenance of the Church; also in the execution and control of accounting and tax requirements through the legal status of the Foundation.
