History of the Sanctuary
After the blessing of the Tupãrenda Sanctuary and with the growth of the family, the need for a meeting place for the days of the week began to be felt.
The fundamental desire was to have a meeting place for young people. They set out on a campaign to see what could be that possible center and place that God wanted to choose.
All that time was full of prayer, where the young people demonstrated enormous sacrifices, such as the pilgrimages they made to Tupãrenda, the dawn masses or brave hearts as we call them, to this day, the masses at 6 in the morning.
This is how the place was conquered, God and the Virgin were very generous, because a family donated the current property where the Father’s House is located and next to it the Youth Shrine. This sign was considered a godsend since there were no financial means to open such a significant center in the city. The Youth Shrine in the city was blessed on September 21, 1997.
The secret of the Youth Shrine to attract so many young people to its surroundings lies in the covenant of love. In a sanctuary Mary is established, but not only in image, but a special presence where she works. Here come people who are overwhelmed, tired, with frustrations and difficulties, and there is a reunion with God and Mary.
Fruits of the Sanctuary
In these years the Youth Shrine has borne abundant fruits: religious vocations of young people willing to risk themselves for God under the protection of Mary, family missions, with entire families giving away a week of their vacations to go and announce the good news, university missions , with students who go to the interior of the country to relive Holy Week sharing with the people of the towns and with their missionary brothers, and foundations that aim to improve the situation of the country.
Teaching of the three graces
In this sanctuary young people especially feel the 3 graces of the Blessed Virgin:
1.
The grace of shelter, which makes us feel in the arms of a mother.
2.
The grace of inner transformation.
3.
The grace of apostolic sending, when one feels so much spiritual joy and burning in the chest that one has to go out and shout the love of God.
Diocesan Recognition
On August 20, 2013 through Decree No. 055/2013 the Archdiocese of the Holy Assumption elevated to the canonical status of Diocesan Sanctuary under the Patronage of the “Thrice Admirable Mother”, the temple erected on the property of the Apostolic Movement of Schoenstatt, located at 157 Ceferino Vega Street, with the pastoral direction of the Institute of Schoenstatt Fathers.
Youth Testimony
The Young Sanctuary “is a refuge for all of us, a place of silence in the midst of so much noise, a place where we know that our mother will receive us with open arms and ready to listen, give advice and also share our joys, 24 hours a day. hours without cuts. For us it is irresistible to go in to greet the Blessed Mother when we are close or when we pass through the nearby streets”.
